Singapore: The city harmonising nature, futuristic design, and ancient culture

My Beautiful World
Asia

Journey to the southeast of Asia to an island crammed with wonder. Blending nature with futuristic technology, Singapore is a marvel of the modern world. Criss-crossing over rivers and bays, the city is a well-connected network that harbours spectacles around every corner.

GO: Explore the ambitious merging of design and the natural world. Dubbed the City in a Garden, greening Singapore has been at the forefront of the government’s focus since 1963. Visit the Gardens by the Bay to see the colossal creativity and nature-inspired fruits of their labour. Iconic and surreal Supertrees command the landscape, while the Cloud Forest beckons visitors into a mysterious and mist-shrouded encounter.

SEE: Given its roots as a colonial trading port, Singapore is melded with Chinese, Malay, and Indian influences. People of all religions worship harmoniously here, with churches, temples, and mosques all occupying the same block wedged between Sims Avenue and Geylang Road.

In the Singapore Botanic Gardens, get lost in floral fanfare. Established in 1859, this lush haven began as an experiment in agriculture, botany, and specimen collection. Orchid breeding has been perfected here, and there is a National Orchid Garden dedicated to showcasing their thousands of plants.

DO: Walk along the Helix Bridge, a feat of engineering. Inspired by a DNA strand, this suspended pathway curves over the Marina Bay. Cocooning its pedestrians in a stainless steel net, the Helix offers a scenic and safe footpath from the Marina Bay Sands Garden Park to the Youth Olympic Park.

From the bridge, stroll over to the Marina Bay Sands Resort. It boasts the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool at a staggering 57 storeys in the air, where hotel guests leisurely dip in and out. Strung across the roofs of three buildings, this pool is more of an awe-inspiring extravagance than simply a place to cool off from the tropical heat.

Just off Raffles Avenue, ride the 165-metre high Singapore Flyer Ferris. Tailor the experience to suit your desires – fly with your family, book out a capsule for a romantic dinner, or take high tea and watch the city below.

Dive headfirst into the fusion of culture, technology, and sustainability in Singapore. This green city’s impact on the future is setting a benchmark for our planet. From a small island in the South China Sea, its ripples are felt across the world.
